Summary
Alan B'stard (Rik Mayall) is a Member of Parliament.
His political views place him somewhere well to the right of Gengis Khan.
He has a very stormy relationship with his wife Sarah (Marsha Fitzalan). Basically, they can't stand one another.
However, Sarah's father controls the local Conservative Association, so Alan has to stay married in order to keep his parliamentary seat.
He's aided and abetted in his various schemes by fellow MP Piers Fletcher-Dervish (Michael Troughton). Usually, however, Piers is much more of a victim than an accomplice.
