Summary
Rupert Rigsby (Leonard Rossiter) is the moth-eaten landlord of a seedy lodging house in a nameless northern town.
Among his tenants are Alan (Richard Beckinsale), Philip (Don Warrington) and Ruth (Frances De La Tour).
Alan and Philip provide a focus for Rigsby's many prejudices, while Ruth is his main object of desire.
The programme was based on Eric Chappell's stage play, "The Banana Box", in which the landlord was called 'Rooksby'.
