Summary

Willie Melvin (Gerard Kelly) works as a bank clerk, but dreams of being a successful novelist.

When he wins a short story competition, he thinks that he's 'on his way'.

He courts and marries Janice McLachlan (Elaine Collins), but their relationship is shortlived.

Willie subsequently becomes interested in Fiona (Ann Bryson).

Other regular characters include Brian (Jonathan Watson), Chancer (Andy Gray) and Mr McLelland (Dave Anderson).
