Summary
Royston Vasey is a grim, isolated community peopled by a host of strange characters. There's a "local shop" run by a psychotic couple who hate "outsiders" and are terrified of change. Other characters include a "lethal" vet, a transexual taxi driver and a photographer who is practically blind.
All of the characters are played by Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith. They also share the writing, along with Jeremy Dyson.
The group developed their odd characterisations during a three year spell appearing at the Canal Cafe, London. In 1996, they took their act to the Edinburgh Festival, returning a year later to win the Perrier Comedy Award.
In 1998, the group made a BBC radio series (On The Town), which was later adapted for their first television series.
