Summary

Para Handy (Duncan Macrae) is the captain of 'The Vital Spark', an old steam ship which carries assorted cargoes around the waterways of Scotland.

Other characters include Dan McPhail (John Grieve), Dougie (Roddy McMillan) and Sunny Jim (Angus Lennie).

Roddy McMillan returned to the Para Handy stories in 1965, for The Vital Spark, this time playing Para Handy. John Grieve played Dan MacPhail once again in the later series
