Summary
Supt Allardyce (Colin Jeavons) is in charge of a small provincial police station.
He dreams of being given an MBE for "services to law enforcement", an ambition which is unlikely to be realised given the low level of competence of his officers.
Det-Sgt Sidney Marble (Michael Robbins) is in charge of CID. He spends more time eating than solving crimes.
The uniformed officers include PC Cordwainer (Nigel Lambert), PC Dickinson (Mike Savage) and WPC Purvis (Lynda Bellingham).
