Summary
The policemen based in an isolated country police station do their best to avoid having any involvement with crime. They spend their days finding ways of "making a bit on the side". Their money-making schemes include hiring out their patrol car for weddings and giving driving lessons.
Then WPS Penny Pringle (Josephine Tewson) arrives at the station and tries to persuade her colleagues to devote their energies to police work.
The staff of the police station includes Sgt Sam Short (Bill Owen), PC Eddie Edwards (Richard Wattis), PC Dinkie Dinkworth (Royce Mills), PC Chipper Collins (George Moon) and Chief Supt Ripper (Kevin Brennan).
