Summary

Ted Simcock (David Jason) and his wife Rita (Gwen Taylor) are attending the wedding of their son Paul (David Thewlis) to Jenny Rodenhurst (Sarah-Jane Holm).

When Jenny's mother, Liz (Nicola Pagett), takes a fancy to Ted, she sets in motion a train of events that will bring profound changes to all of their lives.

Each episode is set against the background of a different "do" - several weddings, a christening, a funeral and various other functions.

The programme was based on David Nobbs' novels, "A Bit Of A Do" and "Another Do".
