Summary

Widow Sheila Haddon (Maureen Lipman) discovers that she no longer has enough money to keep up repayments on her mortgage.

Her husband hadn't bothered to take out any life insurance and what little money he'd left her has now gone.

She decides to find a part-time job and also takes in lodgers.

During the first series, the paying guests are Hamish (David Bannerman) and Chris (Gregory Doran). They are replaced by Henry (Martin Clunes) and Candy (Carol Hawkins) for the second series.
