Alf is under pressure from Mrs Lipton to finalise his divorce. He gets someone to pose as his wife. His latest money-making scheme involves talking Mrs Lipton into baking some cakes, supposedly for a local orphanage.


2: Current Affairs (17 Nov 91)

Myrtle visits the Meldrum household, pretending to be Alf's wife. Meanwhile, Alf is still selling Mrs Lipton's cakes to the Sunshine Pantry.


3: Mrs Lipton's Nasty Turn (24 Nov 91)

Mrs Lipton finds out what Alf has been up to. She smashes crockery in a fit of rage, then fears that she'll lose her job. Ivy learns the truth about the cakes at the Sunshine Pantry.

Lord Meldrum is hoping to join the BBC Board of Governors. He decides that he needs to be more familiar with the 'common man', so he organises a fish and chip supper for his workers. Miss Poppy becomes engaged to Dickie Metcalfe.

Miss Poppy and Dickie Metcalfe set off for Gretna Green, determined to get married. The rest of the household try to stop them.


6: The Night Of Reckoning (15 Dec 91)

Sir Ralph offers James a job as his butler. Mabel is threatened with eviction. Alf tries to help Teddy with his problems.


7: A Day In The Country (22 Dec 91)

Lord Meldrum organises a day out in the country for his servants. They all end up at Peabody Hall. Sir Ralph and Lady Angela are also there.
