Hedley Green (Bill Fraser) is the station master at Burberry Halt, a run-down railway station on the Milchester line.
Time has more or less stood still at the station, which is only visited by three trains a day.
Hedley and his assistant, Peter Pringle (Hugh Walters), spend the days dealing with minor problems and trying to avoid the attention of the area manager.
Location filming was done at a disused station in Bodiam, East Sussex.
