Mag Plant (Sheila Hancock) runs a family-owned garden centrre in London.
She's determined to retain control of the family business, in spite of the fact that her three children want her to retire and hand over to them.
The children are triplets Winston (Warren Clarke ), Monty (Jim Broadbent ) and Hilda (Alison Steadman).
Meanwhile, local crook Wesley Willis (Peter Cook) also wants to get his hands on the garden centre. He thinks he can make a killing by using the land for redevelopment.
