Summary
H.G. Bestwick (Brian Glover) is the new director of the Ettaswell Town Band. His father and grandfather had the job before him, so H.G. is conscious of the fact that he's part of a long tradition.
H.G. has very definite ideas about how the band should be run.
Unfortunately, he tends to be pompous and dictatorial in his approach to other people, so he quickly runs into opposition when he tries to put his ideas into practice.
Regular characters include Gary Thompson (Ray Mort), Leonard Dukes (Stephen Hancock), Arthur Mannion (Philip Jackson) and Cyril Bacon (Kevin Lloyd).
