Lurcio (Frankie Howerd) is a slave in old Pompeii, before the city was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius.
His master is Ludicrus Sextus (Max Adrian / Wallas Eaton), who's married to Ammonia (Elizabeth Larner).
Ludicrus has a son, Nausius (Kerry Gardner) and a daughter, Erotica (Georgina Moon).
Other regular characters include Senna The Soothsayer (Jeanne Mockford) and Plautus (William Rushton).
