Summary
Nellie Pickersgill (Hylda Baker) is a lifelong teatotaller and a hater of strong drink.
In spite of this, she leaves her home in Bolton, Lancashire and moves to London to help her father Jed (John Barrett) to run his pub in Fulham, London.
By the beginning of the third series, Jed has left the pub and returned to Bolton to get married. Nellie's cousin Stanley (Jack Douglas) moves in to help out.
