Summary
Thomas Simpson (Christopher Blake) and Susan Lambert (Muriel Odunton) have recently left university. They're in love and they want to live together.
There's a great deal of disapproval from both of their families, mainly because he's white and she's black.
Eventually, Thomas's Aunt Dorothy invites them to set up home in the flat in her basement.
To begin with, Thomas is unemployed, so they have to depend on Susan's salary as a social worker. Later, Thomas finds work as an engineer.
