Hester has taken up fencing. The instructor takes a fancy to her.

Hester has agreed to help with the church bazaar. She tries to talk William into getting involved too.

Hester tries her hand at writing a novel.

William agrees to employ Hester as his temporary secretary. He soon begins to think it wasn't such a good idea.
