1: Kryten (6 Sep 88)

The crew of Red Dwarf answer a distress call from another ship. They find an android named Kryten looking after three female crew members who have been dead for centuries.

2: Better Than Life (13 Sep 88)

A mail pod catches up with Red Dwarf. Rimmer gets a letter from his mother telling him that his father has died. There's also a virtual reality game called "Better Than Life". The crew decide to try the game out. Rimmer manages to spoil the game for the others.

The crew wake up one morning to find that they can't remember anything that happened during the previous four days. Lister has his leg in a plaster cast and someone has completed his jigsaw puzzle. He's determined to find out what has been happening. He discovers that everyone's memory was erased to undo the trouble caused when he 'lent' Rimmer his memories of an old girlfriend.

4: Stasis Leak (27 Sep 88)

The crew discover a 'stasis leak' which provides a doorway back to the past. Lister finds a wedding photograph of himself and Kochanski. Arnold Rimmer frightens himself.

Red Dwarf's backup computer, Queeg 500, manages to displace Holly as the ship's computer. As a result, the crew find that life suddenly becomes totally miserable. It's finally revealed to be one of Holly's more elaborate practical jokes.

6: Parallel Universe (11 Oct 88)

Holly invents the 'Holly Hop Drive', which is supposed to enable the ship to go anywhere in the Universe in an instant. When they try it out, the ship is transported to a parallel universe. Lister and Rimmer meet female versions of themselves and Dave Lister ends up pregnant.
