Summary

James Shepherd (Paul Nicholas) is a vet whose surgery is next to his home.

He has a remarried ex-wife, Helen DeAngelo (Angharad Rees) to contend with and two children, Robbie (Andrew Read) and Kate (Lucy Benjamin), to bring up.

To add to his problems, his veterinary assistant, Rose (Jane Briers) claims to dislike animals.

This programme was a UK adaptation of Brian Cooke's short-lived US sitcom, Starting From Scratch
