Summary
Nick (Alexander Armstrong) is a reluctant vet with a practice in a small village in Gloucestershire.
Nick's future in veterinary medicine is likely to be somewhat hampered by the fact that he isn't very keen on animals.
He's terrified of some species (especially the small furry ones with big staring eyes). As for the rest, he doesn't seem to like them much either.
There are compensations, however, in the shape of some of the attractive lady owners who bring their pets in for treatment.
Nick's partners in the practice are Briony (Sylvestra Le Touzel) and Andrew (Steven Alvey). The Practice Manager/Receptionist is Kirsten (Doon Mackichen). There's also a young veterinary nurse named Jade (Emma Pierson).
