Summary
Trevor Chaplin (James Bolam) is a jazz-loving woodwork teacher at a comprehensive school.
Along with fellow teacher Jill Swinburne (Barbara Flynn), he becomes involved in a series of mysterious events.
In The Beiderbecke Affair, Trevor and Jill start off trying to track down some jazz records and end up helping to bring a corrupt policeman to justice.
In The Beiderbecke Tapes, Trevor finds himself in possession of a tape containing a discussion about dumping nuclear waste in the Yorkshire Dales. This leads him and Jill on a wild goose chase around Europe.
In The Beiderbecke Connection, Jill and Trevor are talked into helping a mysterious refugee to cross the Yorkshire border.
In 1981, Alan Plater was responsible for a four-part TV thriller called Get Lost!, starring Bridget Turner and Alun Armstrong. This earlier series was quite similar to The Beiderbecke Affair in many ways.
