Summary
When the 12th Earl of Clogborough dies, he leaves no obvious heirs. A search turns up a factory boiler minder, Clifford Basket (Ken Jones). He accepts his inheritance and moves into Clogborough Hall with his mother (Patricia Hayes).
The butler, Redvers Bodkin (Arthur Lowe), doesn't particularly approve of his new uncouth master, but agrees to remain in his post for the sake of the 'family'.
Clifford Basket quickly learns that his inheritance is far from being the 'goldmine' he anticipated.
